Local Government | Temporary Assignment
Location:   Melbourne’s Eastern Suburbs, Ringwood Area
Rate:~$41.13 per hour + Super
Start:  ASAP
End: Wednesday, 20 May 2026
Hours:  Monday–Friday

About the Role
A local council in Melbourne’s east is seeking an experienced Statutory Planner (Band 5) to join their Planning team during a busy period.

This role requires someone who can hit the ground running, pick up planning files quickly, and process applications efficiently. You’ll work both independently and as part of a supportive team, attending the Ringwood office and participating in phone and counter duties as rostered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess planning permit applications in line with legislation and council policies
  • Pick up planning files and process them efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Prepare clear reports, recommendations, and supporting documentation
  • Provide accurate planning advice to stakeholders and the community
  • Contribute to phone and counter services when rostered
  • Manage cases to meet statutory timelines
About You
  • Proven experience in local government statutory planning(essential)
  • Ability to work independently and confidently handle a varied caseload
  • Strong understanding of planning legislation, processes, and compliance
  • Comfortable attending the Ringwood office and participating in rostered duties
  • Excellent communication, report‑writing, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or related discipline
