Hamersley Station – Pilbara, Western Australia
Lead one of the Pilbara’s most iconic pastoral operations
Chandler Macleod is seeking an experienced Overseer
to lead the day‑to‑day management of Hamersley Station, located in the heart of the Pilbara.
Hamersley Station spans approximately 266,000 hectares
and forms part of a broader pastoral portfolio. Together with neighbouring stations, the combined footprint extends across roughly 770,000 hectares
of country surrounding the beautiful Karijini National Park
and the communities of Tom Price, Paraburdoo and Newman.
This leadership role comes with responsibility for safety performance, leading a team, livestock production, animal welfare, infrastructure and financial oversight. The successful applicant will play a key role in ensuring the station operates safely, efficiently and sustainably.
The Role
You will be responsible for the overall coordination and performance of station operations, including:
- Planning and execution of mustering programs for processing and sale
- Oversight of herd health, animal welfare and performance outcomes
- Leadership, supervision and development of station staff
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and capability development of staff
- Contractor coordination, including helicopters, cattle transport and specialist services
- Budget management and identification of operational efficiencies
- Maintenance planning and oversight of fencing, waters, yards, mobile equipment and vehicles
- Embedding strong safety systems and leading a positive safety culture
About You This opportunity will suit a practical and accountable station leader who:
- Has demonstrated experience managing a pastoral station or large‑scale cattle operation
- Brings strong leadership capability—leads with maturity and professionalism, maintains composure under pressure, and fosters a respectful, high‑performance team environment
- Is confident using computers for reporting, budgeting, email communication and other internal/external platforms
- Leads by example and sets high standards in safety, animal welfare and land stewardship
- Understands station economics, budgeting and contractor management
- Has strong infrastructure and maintenance knowledge, including water systems, fencing, yards, plant and bore operations
- Is confident operating trucks, 4WDs and motorbikes
- Holds (or can obtain) an HR, MC licence and firearms licence
- Communicates clearly and professionally across all levels
