We are seeking a skilled Site Safety Specialist to champion Work Health & Safety (WHS) across civil construction and maintenance operations. About the Role As the Site Safety Specialist, you will lead WHS initiatives across multiple depots and field locations. Your work will focus on promoting a safety‑first culture , delivering expert advice, and ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, codes of practice, and safety management systems. You’ll collaborate closely with operational teams, managers, and contractors to strengthen internal capability and improve safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive WHS activities across civil construction/maintenance sites, ensuring compliance with safety systems, legislation, and best‑practice standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, site audits, equipment reviews and ensure corrective actions are completed on time.
  • Lead and support incident investigations, safety initiatives, and training programs.
  • Provide specialised WHS advice to managers, supervisors, staff, and contractors.
  • Build strong working relationships to promote engagement, accountability, and a positive safety culture.
  • Monitor safety performance, prepare reports, and proactively identify risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Exercise authority to stop unsafe work and enforce WHS procedures when required.
About You You will bring strong technical knowledge, practical experience, and a collaborative approach. The ideal candidate will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS or extensive senior-level WHS experience within construction or contract management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of WHS legislation and safety challenges in high‑risk, operational environments.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring and delivering WHS training to diverse workgroups.
  • Strong decision‑making skills, especially under pressure or in emergency situations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex information clearly.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities.
