We’re seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer who brings technical expertise, innovative thinking, and a strong customer‑focused approach to improving transport outcomes. You’ll play a key role in enhancing traffic safety, managing traffic flow, shaping local area traffic management plans, and providing specialist engineering advice that directly improves the experience of road users.
About the Role
In this senior position, you will:
- Lead and deliver traffic engineering investigations, assessments and designs.
- Analyse traffic surveys, assess safety concerns, and develop evidence‑based recommendations.
- Prepare high‑quality technical reports for committees, internal teams and stakeholders.
- Assist in the development of forward works programs and contribute to strategic transport planning.
- Provide expert advice on development applications and traffic impacts.
- Liaise with state agencies, including Transport for NSW, to coordinate safe and effective traffic solutions.
- Engage with community members, residents and businesses to support positive and practical project outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards and best‑practice engineering approaches.
You will thrive in this role if you have:
- A degree in Civil Engineering (or extensive relevant experience).
- Strong experience in traffic and transport engineering within a local government or similar environment.
- Knowledge of road safety, parking management, street lighting, and traffic control principles.
- High‑level analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a practical and innovative mindset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical report writing.
- A commitment to delivering outstanding customer service and continuous improvement.
- Current Class C Driver
Post‑graduate qualifications in a traffic‑related field, PWZ certification, knowledge of SIDRA and AutoCAD software, and possession of a NSW White Card.
