Senior Structural Engineer (Buildings)

Opportunity with a buildings‑focused consulting engineering team delivering structural design for the urban built environment: multi‑storey commercial and mixed‑use, mid/high‑rise residential towers, education facilities, health/aged care/childcare, and industrial buildings. The work is design‑led, documentation‑heavy, and coordinated closely with architects and building services.

In this role you will lead and produce structural analysis and design for reinforced concrete, post‑tensioned and steel building structures; prepare calculations, reports, and specifications; coordinate with architects, services engineers, and drafting teams to resolve layouts and details; review and mentor junior engineers; respond to design RFIs during delivery; and ensure compliance with the NCC and relevant Australian Standards while meeting time, scope, and quality requirements.

Who this role suits:

• Structural engineers from a consulting background with proven building project experience (commercial, mixed‑use, education, health, industrial buildings, or mid/high‑rise residential).
• Collaborative communicators comfortable working with architects, services engineers and drafters, and taking ownership of design packages from concept through detailed documentation.

What you’ll be doing:

• Delivering structural design for reinforced concrete, post‑tensioned and steel building structures
• Owning design packages from early concept through detailed documentation
• Working closely with architects, services engineers and drafters to produce well‑coordinated design outcomes
• Preparing calculations, structural analysis, reports and specifications
• Checking and mentoring junior engineers
• Providing practical, economical engineering solutions for clients
• Ensuring designs meet Australian Standards and the NCC

What we’re looking for:

• A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent 
• 5+ years’ experience in structural design of buildings within a consulting environment
• Strong capability in reinforced concrete and structural steel design
• Experience working on urban building projects such as high‑rise, commercial, education, health or industrial buildings
• Familiarity with structural analysis and design software (e.g. ETABS, SpaceGass, RAPT, RAM Concept or similar)
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to coordinate with architects and other disciplines
• Experience producing well‑resolved design documentation
• RPEQ or progression towards it is highly regarded
