Our client AGL is seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Specialist to lead the end to end delivery of two major procurement packages supporting Maintenance and Outages operations. With a strong focus on the CHPP and Fabrication portfolios, this role is responsible for managing the complete source to contract lifecycle — from early analysis and scoping through to tendering, contract award, mobilisation, and governance.
Working closely with the Procurement Manager and site stakeholders, you will drive commercially sound sourcing strategies, ensure robust risk management, and enable effective delivery of critical maintenance programs.
This is a 12 month contract role based in the Hunter Valley region, NSW.
Key Responsibilities
Business Partnering & Stakeholder Management
• Partner with Maintenance and Outages stakeholders to understand operational requirements and deliver best value sourcing outcomes.
• Drive effective contract execution, negotiation, approvals, and stakeholder alignment.
• Build strong on site relationships to support safe, timely, and commercially effective delivery of maintenance needs.

• Lead end to end market engagement for two major procurement packages.
• Conduct upfront analysis and support the development of scopes of work, specifications, and commercial requirements.
• Identify, assess, and pre qualify suppliers aligned to site requirements and risk profiles.
• Manage RFP and tender processes, including evaluations, supplier briefings, and commercial negotiations.
• Lead contract drafting and award in partnership with site teams and Legal.
• Ensure smooth contract mobilisation, operationalisation, and procure to pay enablement.
• Maintain clear visibility over sourcing activity and provide accurate reporting to stakeholders and leadership.
• Drive supplier performance and support site based improvement and innovation initiatives.
Key Skills & Capabilities required
• Strong commercial experience in strategic procurement within complex and dynamic environments.
• Demonstrated experience in labour rate analysis, cost structure assessment, and commercial risk evaluation.
• Proven ability to influence and manage stakeholders with competing priorities.
• Expertise in strategic and operational purchasing, ideally within MRO environments.
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong negotiation, problem solving, and issue resolution capabilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively within teams to achieve KPIs and project timelines.
• Skills in building effective cross functional and external relationships.
Experience
• Proven experience in procurement or similar commercial roles.
• Experience running large, complex tenders (Ariba and SAP experience highly regarded).
• Proven track record in developing and delivering complex sourcing and negotiation strategies.
• Strong vendor management experience.
• Understanding of mature procurement environments, governance, and purchasing policies.
• Experience with labour rates and industry best practice.
Qualifications
• Degree in Engineering, Commerce, Business, or Law (preferred).
• MCIPS qualification (desirable).
