Our client is delivering a landmark bulk terminal upgrade project in Western Australia and is seeking an experienced Senior Package Lead (Senior Project Engineer) to play a critical role in its successful delivery.
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of high-value work packages within a complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure program—driving outcomes from design through to commissioning in a live operational environment.

About the Role
Reporting to the Project Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of major work packages within a large-scale bulk terminal upgrade project.
You will lead the coordination between engineering, procurement, and construction contractors while ensuring seamless integration with ongoing port operations and parallel project streams.


Key Responsibilities

Project & Package Delivery
  • Lead delivery of assigned packages across all phases: design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover
  • Ensure outcomes are achieved safely, on time, within budget, and to required quality standards
  • Manage complex interfaces across marine, landside, utilities, and operational environments
Contractor & Stakeholder Management
  • Manage contractor performance, technical compliance, and delivery outcomes
  • Resolve commercial and execution challenges to maintain project momentum
  • Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders
Technical & Engineering Oversight
  • Develop and review technical specifications, scopes of work, and tender documentation
  • Ensure all assets meet operational, safety, and engineering standards
  • Provide technical guidance across project teams
Project Controls & Reporting
  • Monitor KPIs including schedule, cost, and risk
  • Work closely with planners and cost controllers to track performance
  • Deliver high-quality reporting to senior leadership and stakeholders
Operational Integration
  • Coordinate commissioning and handover activities with operational teams
  • Ensure minimal disruption to ongoing operations during project delivery
  • Embed constructability, staging, and shutdown planning into delivery
Safety, Environment & Compliance
  • Champion a strong safety and environmental culture across all delivery partners
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements
  • Embed safety-in-design principles across all project phases
  • Support governance, audit, and assurance processes
Commercial & Procurement
  • Develop clear scopes of work and procurement strategies
  • Manage contracts, variations, claims, and dispute avoidance
  • Drive performance against contractual obligations and delivery milestones

About You

You are a driven and experienced engineering professional with a strong background in delivering complex infrastructure or industrial projects.

Essential:
  • Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 10+ years’ experience in project engineering, construction, or project management within heavy industry
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale infrastructure or industrial projects
  • Strong experience in technical documentation, specifications, and contract management
Skills & Attributes:
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management capability
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid financial, budgeting, and project controls experience
  • Sound knowledge of engineering design and safety standards
  • Ability to thrive in complex, fast-paced project environments
Desirable:
  • Experience in port, bulk handling, or materials handling projects
  • Understanding of environmental management practices
  • Experience in cost estimation and project planning
  • Postgraduate qualifications (advantageous)
Location & Travel
  • Based in Fremantle, WA
  • Regular travel to Kwinana required
