Senior Cost Controller / Project Controls (Infrastructure Program)
$75–$80 per hour + super | 6 Month Contract | Melbourne CBD | Hybrid (2 Days WFH)

An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Cost Controller / Project Controls professional to support a major infrastructure program based in Melbourne CBD.
This 6-month contract offers hybrid working arrangements and the opportunity to play a key role in maintaining the financial performance of a large and complex program.
This role sits within a major infrastructure / capital projects environment, supporting financial governance, forecasting and cost performance across multiple projects within the broader program.

Key responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain cost control frameworks and project controls processes
  • Monitor project budgets, expenditure, forecasts and cash flow
  • Prepare and analyse cost reports, forecasts and earned value metrics
  • Identify and communicate financial risks and opportunities
  • Assess and manage cost variations, project changes and contractor claims
  • Support the preparation of project estimates, accruals and financial forecasts
  • Maintain the integrity of project controls systems and financial data
  • Provide financial insight and cost performance reporting to program leadership
  • Mentor and support cost control team members
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to resolve issues impacting financial performance

About You:
You are an experienced cost control or project controls professional who is comfortable working within large infrastructure or capital project environments. You bring strong analytical capability and can communicate financial insights clearly to support project and program decision-making.
You are also confident working across multiple stakeholders while maintaining strong attention to detail in a fast-moving program environment.

Skills & Experience:
Essential

  • 5+ years’ experience in Cost Control or Project Controls on major projects or programs
  • Strong knowledge of project cost management, forecasting and earned value management
  • Advanced Excel capability
  • Experience working with ERP systems and reporting tools(e.g. Power BI, Tableau or similar)
  • Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced project environment while maintaining accuracy
Desirable
  • Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or Project Management(or equivalent experience)
  • Experience mentoring or supervising cost control staff
  • Experience within rail, transport, infrastructure or major capital projects
