An opportunity is available for an experienced Payroll Officer to join a busy and professional People & Culture team on a casual full time contract.
This role will suit someone with strong payroll processing experience, excellent attention to detail and a customer‑focused approach.
About the Role
You will support the delivery of end‑to‑end payroll services, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with enterprise agreements and relevant legislation.
You will also provide high‑quality advice and support to managers and employees on payroll‑related matters.
Key Responsibilities - Payroll Processing
- Accurately process payrolls in line with required timelines
- Prepare payroll journals, bank transfers and EFT payments
- Reconcile payroll deductions including PAYG, superannuation and related payments
- Process timesheets, salary adjustments and leave transactions
- Maintain accurate employee records including leave and superannuation
- Support superannuation administration and reconciliations
- Process employee commencements, movements and terminations
- Provide accurate records with clear audit trails for all payroll transactions
- Provide advice to managers and employees on payroll and employment conditions
- Respond to payroll enquiries professionally and within agreed timeframes
- Maintain and update HRIS and payroll systems with a high level of confidentiality
- Prepare reports and payroll documentation as required
- Build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience working in a payroll environment
- Sound knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation and superannuation
- Experience interpreting and applying Enterprise Agreements
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work to strict deadlines
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
- Experience using HRIS and payroll systems
- Experience with iChris/Chris21/Aurion and/or Humanforce highly regarded
- Local government or large organisation payroll experience beneficial
- Current Police Check
- Current Working With Children Check
