About the Opportunity

Our client is delivering a major upgrade to a high-profile infrastructure project critical to Western Australia’s bulk trade operations.

They are seeking an experienced Package Lead (Project Engineer) to take ownership of high-value work packages within this complex, multi-disciplinary program. This is a pivotal role responsible for driving delivery from detailed design through to construction, commissioning, and handover.

Reporting to the Project Delivery Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards—while integrating seamlessly with live operational environments.
Key Responsibilities End-to-End Package Delivery
  • Lead the delivery of assigned work packages across all phases: design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover
  • Ensure alignment with project execution plans, budgets, and milestone schedules
Contractor & Stakeholder Management
  • Manage contractor performance, technical reviews, and issue resolution
  • Coordinate across engineering, procurement, construction, and operational stakeholders
  • Maintain strong working relationships with contractors and key project partners
Technical & Project Oversight
  • Develop and review technical specifications, scopes of work, and tender documentation
  • Monitor key project metrics including schedule, cost, and risk
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to senior project leadership
Operational Integration
  • Coordinate commissioning and integration of new assets (e.g. conveyor systems, bulk handling infrastructure)
  • Ensure minimal disruption to ongoing port and bulk trade operations

Key Accountabilities

Project Management
  • Deliver complex infrastructure packages including:
    • Landside infrastructure (pavements, services, buildings)
    • Mechanical and electrical systems (conveyors, utilities, ship loaders)
    • Materials handling and non-process infrastructure
  • Manage interfaces across marine, landside, and live operational environments
  • Oversee engineering and construction contracts, including tendering and evaluation
Safety & Environment
  • Champion a strong safety-first culture across all project activities
  • Ensure compliance with environmental approvals, marine regulations, and safety systems
  • Embed safety-in-design and operational risk considerations throughout delivery
Commercial & Procurement
  • Develop clear scopes of work and contract packages
  • Manage variations, claims, and contractor performance
  • Support procurement strategies and tender processes
Governance & Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with corporate policies, statutory requirements, and governance frameworks
  • Manage project risks, reporting, and assurance processes
  • Support audits, reviews, and stakeholder reporting (including executive and government stakeholders)
