Looking for a hands-on role where your work makes a real difference in the community? We’re seeking a motivated Maintenance Officer to support the upkeep and improvement of vital infrastructure including roads, footpaths, drainage systems, and public assets in the Ballina Shire.

About the Role
In this dynamic outdoor role, you’ll be part of a dedicated team responsible for maintaining and improving local infrastructure. From repairing potholes to installing signage and assisting with roadside spraying, no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out general road and asset maintenance (roads, drainage, kerbs, footpaths, cycleways)
  • Perform labouring tasks such as concreting, pipe laying, and sign installation
  • Operate plant and equipment safely (e.g. spray trucks, mowers, power tools)
  • Assist with traffic control and site safety
  • Complete required documentation (timesheets, work orders, safety forms)
  • Deliver friendly, professional customer service to the public and stakeholders
What You’ll Bring
  • Experience in road or civil maintenance (or similar hands-on work)
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Experience operating small plant and equipment
  • Valid Class C driver licence (manual)
  • Construction White Card
Highly Regarded
  • Civil Construction qualifications
  • Truck licences (LR/MR/HR)
  • Traffic control, confined spaces, or plant operation tickets
  • Experience with road maintenance and construction equipment
  • Chemical spray certification
