Junior Accountant / Cost Analyst – Tier 1 Mining (Rail / AutoHaul)
$75–$86 per hour + super | Ongoing Contract | 3–5 Days per Week

We are seeking a motivated Junior Accountant / Cost Analyst
to join a leading Tier 1 mining organisation within the AutoHaul Enhancements (AHE) team. This role offers flexible working arrangements (3–5 days per week), hybrid work options, and the opportunity to support a major rail operations program within one of Australia’s most recognised mining businesses

About the Role
Reporting to the Principal Commercial, the Junior Accountant / Cost Analyst supports cost control, forecasting, reporting and commercial activities across the AutoHaul project.
You will assist with purchase orders, commitment tracking, invoice workflows, cost reporting and supporting the commercial cycle to ensure accurate and timely financial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain Service Orders (SO), Purchase Requisitions (PR) and Purchase Orders (PO) in SAP
- Maintain Commitment Reports, dashboards and SharePoint document libraries
- Provide weekly and bi‑weekly commitment updates to key stakeholders
- Manage vendor claims and invoices aligned to the Commercial Monthly Activity Timetable
- Prepare monthly cost reports and ensure deadlines are met
- Support cost control compliance in accordance with AHE Cost Control Guidelines
- Identify opportunities for improvements in internal cost control and supplier processes
- Assist in preparing monthly cashflows, month‑end forecasts and full‑year financial forecasts
- Ensure all documentation is audit-ready and support audit activities
- Build positive working relationships across the Rail Division (Maintenance, Operations, Engineering)
- Experience in cost control, accounting, assistant accountant or similar financial support role
- Relevant business, commerce or accounting qualification
- Advanced skills in MS Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with SAP PR/PO processes (highly regarded)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- Excellent organisational skills and high attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Comfortable working to strict reporting deadlines
- $75–$86 per hour + super
- Flexible 3–5 days per week
