Are you an experienced leader in the poultry or agricultural industry looking to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a highly skilled Hatchery Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day operations of our commercial hatchery and lead a dedicated team to deliver high‑quality chicks to our customers.

  • Permanent, full‑time employment
  • Attractive benefits, including a fully provided three‑bedroom house
  • Competitive salary

Baiada, one of Australia’s largest poultry producers, is renowned for its premium products, including the popular Steggles and Lilydale free range brands. Baiada has been bringing Australian families together since 1919, delivering fresh poultry to local retailers and food service customers, while leading the industry with innovation and high standards of efficiency.

About the Role:

As the Hatchery Manager, you will be responsible for managing the full hatchery process—from receiving fertile eggs through to the production and dispatch of day‑old chicks. You will ensure the site operates efficiently, safely, and in line with all regulatory, quality, welfare, and environmental standards.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you will drive performance, develop staff capability, manage operational improvements, and ensure compliance across all areas of the hatchery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily hatchery operations to meet production targets and KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS, HACCP, GMP, Environmental Standards, Animal Welfare, Biosecurity, and CoR requirements.
  • Oversee egg receiving, incubation, hatching, chick quality, and dispatch.
  • Develop and support hatchery staff through training and ongoing coaching.
  • Monitor equipment performance, coordinate maintenance, and implement preventative actions.
  • Manage reporting, cost control, and operational planning.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimise productivity and minimise waste.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams, farms, contractors, and customers.

About You:
  • Previous experience in poultry, livestock, agricultural, or hatchery operations.
  • Strong understanding of hatchery processes, animal welfare, and compliance standards.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to problem‑solve operational issues and implement long‑term corrective actions.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand hatchery equipment.
  • Experience working to operational budgets and managing costs.
