Join a leading local government organisation committed to transparency, accountability, and strong governance. We are seeking an experienced FOI & Integrity Officer to provide specialist support across Freedom of Information, Protected Interest Disclosures (PID), fraud and corruption prevention, compliance, and broader integrity initiatives.
In this role, you will coordinate FOI matters end‑to‑end, act as the organisation’s PID Coordinator, and contribute to integrity education, reporting, and policy development. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a legislative, governance, and compliance environment and can manage sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and administer Council’s FOI functions, including request assessment, document discovery, stakeholder liaison, and drafting decision letters.
  • Provide specialist FOI advice, training, and awareness sessions across the organisation.
  • Manage OVIC notifications and compile annual statutory reporting.
  • Act as the organisation’s Protected Interests Disclosures (PID) Coordinator, receiving, assessing and reporting fraud and corruption complaints.
  • Support fraud and corruption prevention activities, including maintaining frameworks, policies, workshops, and compliance initiatives.
  • Conduct investigations into misconduct or integrity‑related matters, preparing high‑quality reports and recommendations.
  • Develop and implement policies, processes, and training to promote ethical conduct and strong governance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including legal teams, OVIC, Ombudsman, IBAC, and external agencies.
  • Provide integrity, governance, and compliance advice to leaders and staff.
Skills & Experience
  • Strong understanding of FOI and PID legislation, regulatory requirements, and local government governance environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in processing FOI and PID matters, including handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Experience in regulatory, compliance, risk, audit, or integrity‑based environments.
  • Strong investigation skills, including managing allegations and preparing thorough reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to influence and engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proven organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and a high‑volume caseload.
  • High level of accuracy, judgement, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise discretion, and apply sound decision‑making.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and familiarity with records management systems (e.g., TRIM/Objective).
Qualifications & Other Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in governance, law, business, public administration, or related field or at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Current Employee Working With Children Check.
  • Police Check required prior to commencement.
  • Ability to exercise high levels of confidentiality and professional integrity.
  • Ability to travel within the municipality if required.
Why Join?
