We are seeking an experienced Financial Reporting Specialist to join a small, high-performing team responsible for reviewing, evaluating and advising on changes to financial reporting requirements.
Duration:
Full-time, 12‑month temporary contract with potential 12‑month extension
Locations:
Woden ACT or Brisbane QLD
This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring aged care provider financial reporting remains fit‑for‑purpose, supports evolving government policy, and reduces administrative burden for providers. A key component of this role will be the design and development of a multi-dimensional chart of accounts to support financial data flows across departmental IT systems.
Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will:
- Provide specialist analysis and advice on aged care provider financial reporting matters.
- Assess and recommend changes to data collections and associated definitions, ensuring alignment with established Principles and Drivers.
- Develop and update templates, guidance materials and resources to assist providers in meeting financial reporting obligations.
- Lead the preparation of briefings, presentations and documentation for internal and external consultation, including senior executive audiences.
- Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders
- Coordinate work activities including planning, scheduling, risk management and progress reporting.
Mandatory / Highly Regarded Qualifications & Experience:
- CPA or CA qualification, OR an equivalent accounting/finance degree.
- Experience in financial reporting within the health or aged care sector (highly desirable).
- Strong technical accounting and financial analysis capability, with experience evaluating financial data and reporting frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across internal and external groups.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear, concise and accurate technical advice.
- Ability to work independently under limited direction, adapt to change, think critically and solve complex problems.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and consistency.
- Strong planning, organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a high‑pressure and evolving environment.
