An exciting opportunity is available for an EL1 Assistant Director – Infrastructure Policy and Engagement to drive the implementation of our clients infrastructure policy agenda and strengthen engagement with like‑minded international partners. This is a full time 12 month temporary role with potential extension based in Canberra

Key Duties Key responsibilities may include:

  • Leading program and project management activities across multiple initiatives to ensure objectives are met and policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Negotiating, managing and monitoring contractual arrangements
  • Managing administrative and record‑keeping activities in accordance with government requirements
  • Engaging with service providers to manage administration and logistics for infrastructure‑related projects
  • Proactively engaging with stakeholders and participants to ensure positive program outcomes
  • Maintaining up‑to‑date awareness of program activities, risks and reporting obligations
  • Preparing high‑quality briefings, correspondence and reports for senior executives
Capabilities and ExperienceL
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including experience dealing with senior departmental officials and leading working‑level engagement with external partners
  • Experience working across government, including leading cross‑departmental collaboration
  • Clear, persuasive verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate infrastructure and development policy to diverse audiences
  • Strong organisational skills, flexibility and the ability to prioritise in a dynamic and busy environment
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused approach to problem solving
  • High attention to detail and experience working within government processes and frameworks
  • Experience within government, an international NGO, or the infrastructure sector is highly regarded
