Deputy Principal Town Planner

Our client, de Witt Consulting, is a highly respected planning and surveying consultancy operating across NSW. They work with property developers, local councils, government agencies, and private organisations.

They are seeking a  Deputy Principal Town Planner  to join our team and play a key role in delivering high-quality planning outcomes. This role would suit an experienced planner who brings strong professional judgement, initiative, and a collaborative approach to their work.

Working closely with the Principals, you will help guide projects, support the development of the planning team, and contribute to the continued growth of the practice. The position offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects while also being part of a supportive, stable team environment with genuine scope to grow and develop your career over the long term.

We are looking for someone who is proactive and capable, with a solid understanding of the planning process and the confidence to work both independently and collaboratively across a range of projects.

The role offers the opportunity to:

  • Work closely with the Principals and have a real influence on business growth and strategy
  • Lead and mentor a team while still working on high-profile planning projects
  • Implement process improvements and workflow efficiencies
  • Gain exposure to a wide variety of development projects, both private and government

About you:
  • Appropriately qualified
  • 5+ years’ experience in town planning
  • Strong knowledge of NSW planning legislation, development applications, and approvals
  • Demonstrated understanding of project delivery, including client expectations, budgets, and achieving positive outcomes.
  • Proven leadership experience — mentoring, coaching, and managing team members
  • Excellent communicator, confident liaising with Principals, clients, and stakeholders
  • Consultancy or local government experience is highly regarded
