Construction Leader - Electrical

Chandler Macleod is currently seeking an experienced Construction Leader – Electrical 2:2 roster to join a major capital projects team at a Tier 1 global mining operation in Weipa. This position will play a key role supporting electrical construction activities at the Amrun Operations, working within a live operational mining environment.
This role is ideally suited to an experienced Electrical Supervisor or Construction Leader with strong field safety leadership and proven experience managing contractors across multidiscipline project environments.

About the Role
Reporting to the Specialist Projects / Project Manager, the Construction Leader – Electrical will coordinate and oversee electrical construction activities, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and in line with approved HSE, cost, schedule and quality requirements.
You will lead electrical installation, modification and commissioning activities across a range of capital and sustaining projects within the Amrun footprint.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership

• Demonstrate visible safety leadership across all electrical construction activities
• Ensure compliance with electrical isolation, permit and lockout procedures
• Participate in daily pre-starts and safety interactions
• Conduct Critical Risk verifications and support incident investigations
• Ensure all safety incidents are reported and closed out in accordance with site requirements

Electrical Construction Delivery

• Validate electrical scopes of work and installation plans
• Supervise and coordinate electrical contractors onsite
• Oversee installation of HV/LV systems, MCCs, switchgear, instrumentation and power distribution
• Ensure electrical works meet QA/QC standards and engineering specifications

Schedule & Cost Management

• Monitor construction progress against project schedules
• Support resolution of technical queries and field notices
• Identify and mitigate electrical construction risks

Commissioning & Handover

• Lead electrical constructability reviews and Level 2 risk assessments
• Support PSRR processes and commissioning activities
• Oversee testing, energisation and safe handover of systems to operations

About You
To be successful in this role you will bring:

• Electrical Trade Qualification (mandatory)
• Demonstrated electrical supervisory or construction leadership experience
• Experience working within mining or heavy industrial environments
• Strong knowledge of HV/LV systems, MCCs, switchgear and instrumentation
• Proven experience managing contractors and multidisciplinary work fronts
• Minimum 5+ years relevant industry experience
• Current Manual Driver’s Licence

You will also demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement, the ability to work effectively within a live operational environment, and excellent reporting and documentation capability.
