Construction Lead – Civil and Structural 
Location: Amrun, Weipa QLD
Contract: ASAP start | Initially up to 12 months

About the Role
We are seeking two experienced Construction Leads within the Civil and Structural discipline to support a Sustaining Capital project at Amrun. These roles are responsible for the day to day oversight of construction activities, ensuring contractors meet safety, quality and performance obligations while delivering a major structural construction package.

Reporting to the Construction Superintendent, you will play a key role in supporting contractor performance, quality outcomes and progress across site construction activities.
 
Roster and Travel
• FIFO 16 days on 12 days off
• Day shift only | 5:30am to 5:30pm
• Point of hire Cairns or Brisbane – other hubs considered for the right candidate
• Camp accommodation provided
 
Key Responsibilities
• Act as a visible safety leader on site
• Supervise and manage daily contractor activities
• Ensure compliance with site quality and statutory requirements
• Attend and coach contractor pre starts
• Review and verify JHAs, WRACs and SWIs
• Ensure effective risk management and critical controls
• Maintain daily construction and inspection records
• Monitor quality against drawings, specifications and ITPs
• Identify and report defects, non conformances and discrepancies
• Inspect materials on arrival and report issues
• Support QA sign off including Field Inspection Checklists
• Provide weekly progress reporting to the Construction Superintendent
• Obtain approvals for variations or out of scope works
 
About You
• Strong civil and structural construction experience
• Proven contractor management experience
• Background in mining or heavy industry environments
• G1, G8, G9 Supervisor competency or equivalent
• Effective communication skills, written and verbal
• Knowledge of relevant mining regulations including OH&S and environmental
• Training competencies desirable but not essential
• Knowledge of WH&S Act and Regulations beneficial
• Knowledge of the Australian Building Code beneficial
• Trade qualification or equivalent experience preferred but not essential
