We are currently seeking a Communications and Community Engagement Support Officer to join a busy and collaborative local council team.
This is a great opportunity to contribute to meaningful community initiatives, delivering clear, accessible communications and supporting engagement activities that make a real impact.
About the Role:
You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of community engagement and communications activities across Council, ensuring information is accessible, well-coordinated, and effectively shared with the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and format content for web, social media, print, and internal channels
- Support the planning and coordination of community engagement activities and events
- Attend engagement sessions and provide on-the-day support
- Collect and collate feedback from engagement activities
- Prepare information packs and materials to support community participation
- Provide administrative and coordination support, including stakeholder lists and purchase orders
- Assist with online engagement activities (e.g. surveys, platforms, basic reporting)
- Provide general administrative/secretariat support across the team
- Experience in communications and/or community engagement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organisational and coordination abilities
- Comfortable supporting both online and in-person engagement activities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
- Local government experience or understanding is highly regarded
