Commissioning Electricians – 2:1 FIFO From Perth | Tier 1 Iron Ore Project
A Tier 1 mining company is seeking experienced Commissioning Electricians to support a large-scale Decarbonisation Infrastructure Project in Western Australia. These roles are offered on a 2:1 FIFO roster.
 
About the Opportunity
You will play a key role in the installation, testing, commissioning, and energisation of high-voltage electrical systems critical to project delivery. This is a field-based role suited to electricians with strong commissioning capability, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work both independently and within a structured commissioning team.
 
Pay Rate:$87/hr + Super on all hours
Roster: 2:1

Key Responsibilities
  • Commission and functionally test HV systems including switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and control systems
  • Interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and commissioning procedures
  • Conduct insulation resistance, continuity, polarity, and secondary injection testing
  • Test and fault-find LV systems
  • Commission control systems and perform instrument calibration
  • Ensure compliance with AS/NZS 3000, AS 2067, and other relevant standards
  • Identify and resolve electrical faults and non-conformances
  • Maintain accurate commissioning records and documentation
  • Liaise with engineers, package managers, and operations personnel
  • Follow all site safety, environmental, and quality procedures
     
Skills & Qualifications
  • WA (or equivalent) Electrical Licence
  • HV Switching Operator certification
  • Demonstrated experience in HV installation and commissioning
  • Strong understanding of protection and control systems
  • High-level troubleshooting and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a commissioning team
  • Current CPR/LVR and White Card
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Unrestricted Australian Working Rights
     
Desirable Experience
  • 5+ years in mining, renewable energy, or HV infrastructure
  • Experience preparing and executing HV switching programs
  • Knowledge of SCADA and protection relay systems (SEL, Schneider, Siemens)
  • Familiarity with commissioning documentation and pre-commissioning processes
  • Understanding of isolation and permitting systems
  • Knowledge of WA Mines Safety & Inspection Regulations and HV legislation
