About the Role We are seeking a proactive and detail‑focused Cabinet & Parliament Program Advisor (VPS4) to provide high‑level support to the Government’s Cabinet, legislative and parliamentary programs. This role will help maintain business‑as‑usual service levels while the department transitions to a new Brief Connect system.
Working as part of a fast‑paced team, you will coordinate Cabinet and parliament program activities, support ministerial participation in Cabinet and parliamentary sittings, and uphold compliance with established government processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Cabinet and parliamentary program workflows, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Support departmental stakeholders in preparing briefings, reports, and program documentation
  • Provide guidance on policies, protocols, and business processes
  • Use internal systems to manage Cabinet/Parliament documentation and approvals
  • Represent the department in relevant meetings and manage emerging issues
  • Prepare program reports, briefing materials, and procedural guidance
  • Maintain quality control over submissions, correspondence and program records
What We’re Looking For (Core Skill Set)
We are seeking candidates with:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including clear, concise email writing
  • Exposure to government business processes, especially briefing, correspondence, approvals, Cabinet or parliamentary workflows
  • Strong stakeholder management, with the ability to engage confidently and professionally
  • Logical, structured thinking, with strong attention to detail
  • Curiosity and responsiveness, with the ability to pick things up quickly
  • Comfort with data and reporting(Power BI skills highly desirable but not essential)
  • Experience with ABC or Brief Connect systems(ideal but not required)
