Chandler Macleod is seeking an experienced and motivated APS6 Project and Procurement Officer
to join a high‑performing Federal Government team. This is a full time 12 month temporary contract with potential extension and can be based in Canberra or Melbourne CBD.
The APS6 Project and Procurement Officer
will coordinate and manage procurement activities for external evaluation resources and lead key projects. The role works across multiple internal teams to support evaluation functions, contract management, procurement processes, and operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, support, and manage direct report(s) to ensure high‑quality service delivery within the External Evaluation team
- Work collaboratively within a small team, delegating tasks effectively and demonstrating flexibility and innovation
- Develop, review, and maintain procedures, policies, and standards to ensure consistent processes and service delivery
- Liaise with stakeholders to resolve issues related to procurement contracts, expert advice panels, and business processes
- Act as a subject matter expert and role model within the Section
- Contribute to strategic planning and drive business and operational process improvements
- Provide training and orientation to new team members
- Support change management initiatives to improve efficiency and meet organisational deliverables
- Undertake administrative tasks and other duties as required by senior leadership
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to contribute to a cohesive work environment
- Ability to manage workload under general direction and deliver high‑quality outcomes
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to implement and track work processes
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship‑building skills
- Clear and confident verbal and written communication
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems
- High attention to detail
- Flexibility to take on additional tasks as required
- Demonstrated knowledge of Commonwealth Procurement Guidelines
- Understanding of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability (PGPA) Act 2013
- Certificate IV in Procurement and/or significant project management experience
- Experience in, or the ability to understand, the regulation of therapeutic goods in Australia
