We’re currently looking for an APS6 Communications Officer to join a federal government agency. This is a 12 month full time opportunity with potential extension to work within a high-performing team, supporting strategic communication activities that make a real difference in people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and delivery of internal and external communication plans
  • Write, edit, and proofread a variety of communication materials, ensuring clarity and accessibility
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including government departments, health workers, and community groups
  • Collaborate on proactive campaigns
  • Assist with organising events, media activities, and digital communications
  • Ensure consistency in branding and messaging across all channels
  • Identify potential risks in communications and help mitigate any issues
About You
  • You have 3-5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field
  • You’re highly organised, able to manage multiple tasks independently and within a team
  • Your writing and editing skills are top-notch, capable of simplifying complex ideas for diverse audiences
  • You’re confident working with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver strategic communication plans
  • You pay close attention to detail, producing polished materials that require minimal revision
  • You have a good understanding of government frameworks and working within complex environments
  • Bonus points if you have experience with Office 365 and graphic design tools like Adobe InDesign or Photoshop
