AO6 Senior Communications Officer | 3 Year Contract | Hybrid | Buderim
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Communications Officer to support the delivery of major infrastructure projects across the Sunshine Coast region.
In this role, you will lead strategic communications and stakeholder engagement initiatives that help communities understand and connect with major transport and infrastructure developments. Working closely with project teams and stakeholders, you will deliver clear, engaging communications that highlight project progress and community benefits.

Contract Details

  • Start: ASAP
  • Duration: 3-year assignment
  • Location: Buderim
  • Work Model: Hybrid
  • Hourly Rate:$79.18 – $84.55 per hour
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver strategic communication plans and campaigns for major infrastructure projects.
  • Work closely with project teams to communicate project updates, impacts, and community benefits.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, contractors, and community stakeholders.
  • Develop high-quality communication materials including media releases, newsletters, project updates, and social media content.
  • Provide expert communications advice to project teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Support stakeholder and community engagement initiatives across project lifecycles.
  • Identify potential communication risks and develop proactive strategies to manage issues.
  • Ensure messaging is clear, accurate, and aligned with broader program objectives.

Key Capabilities
  • Demonstrated experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, or public relations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear messaging.
  • Experience engaging with diverse stakeholders including community groups, contractors, and project teams.
  • Ability to manage communications in fast-paced or high-profile environments.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Desirable Experience
  • Experience working within infrastructure, transport, or large project environments.
  • Experience supporting communications within government or large organisations.
  • Tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • IAP2 Certification is highly desirable.
