Celebrating a Legacy of Innovation

We’re proud to share that Chandler Macleod has been named a finalist in the 2025 RCSA Industry Awards, Excellence in Safety & Wellbeing category. This recognition acknowledges a long-standing commitment to creating safer workplaces across Australia and New Zealand.

Our submission, “65 Years of Safety Leadership”, reflects the journey we've taken, from laying the foundations of a strong safety culture in the 1960s to leading the way today through innovation, technology, and human-centred design.

A Culture Built on Shared Responsibility

At Chandler Macleod, we believe safety isn’t a department, it’s a mindset. Our Behavioural Safety Program launched over six years ago, empowers everyone from consultants to contractors to take ownership of safety in their daily decisions.

We’ve hardwired this into our culture through regular training, visible leadership, and consistent reinforcement of our core belief: We are all Safety Leaders.

What Makes Our Approach Award-Worthy in 2025

In 2024, we focused on pushing the boundaries of what a modern safety program can deliver. Our efforts were centred around five key areas:

  • Tech-Enabled Safety: From virtual reality training modules that simulate risk perception to mobile-first apps for real-time incident reporting, we’ve removed barriers to safe behaviour and made it easy for teams to act in the moment.
  • Psychosocial Safety & Mental Health: We've aligned our physical first aiders with trained Mental Health First Aiders, launched a national Wellbeing Ambassador Network, and built Psychosocial Risk Registers to support proactive wellbeing across our workforce.
  • Frontline Upskilling: Our recruiters have undertaken formal safety qualifications to better understand the risks present in the roles they recruit for, while our internal safety leaders hold certifications in Lead Auditing and Incident Investigation.
  • Data-Led Campaigns: Our injury prevention campaigns now target emerging risks based on incident trends. For example, our focus on Hazardous Physical Tasks led to improved education and conversations around manual handling.
  • Behavioural Impact: Through storytelling and real-life accounts from those affected by workplace incidents, we’ve brought empathy and emotional impact into our safety messaging, reminding everyone what’s at stake.
