An opportunity exists for an experienced and community-focused Waste Management Officer to join a high-performing team responsible for delivering critical waste and resource recovery services.
In this operational role, you’ll work across a variety of functions — from attending transfer stations and assisting customers, to operating plant and equipment and ensuring compliance with environmental standards. Every day brings the chance to make a tangible difference to how waste is managed and recycled in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service to members of the public and colleagues
- Perform duties at drop-off zones, transfer stations, and the weighbridge
- Conduct labouring tasks including litter collection, weeding, and grounds maintenance
- Operate relevant plant and equipment safely and effectively
- Complete required records (e.g. work orders, WHS forms, weighbridge tickets)
- Contribute to environmental monitoring, site safety, and compliance tasks
- Work cooperatively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Essential:
- Experience in the waste management or resource recovery industry
- Physical fitness and willingness to perform hands-on labour
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and outside standard hours
- Class C driver licence (manual transmission)
- Immunisation against Hepatitis A & B (or willingness to participate in program)
- Understanding of WHS, EEO, and safe work practices
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
- HR driver licence and driving experience
- Experience in weighbridge operations and computer systems
- Front End Loader and/or Forklift ticket
- White Card (Construction Induction)
- Knowledge of environmental and risk compliance in waste services
- Working Near Overhead Powerlines certification
