Visitor Engagement Officer Roles

Chandler Macleod is pleased to partner with the Australian National Maritime Museum to recruit multiple Visitor Engagement Officer roles to be based in Pyrmont, NSW. This is an initial engagement of 3 months with varied shift patterns and the possibility of extension. These casual positions offer a unique opportunity to join one of Sydney’s most iconic cultural institutions and contribute to creating memorable experiences for visitors of all ages.

We are currently recruiting for the following roles:

Families & Programs Engagement Officer - $31.19 - $32.31ph + super

Bring creativity and energy to our family programs! This role involves facilitating hands-on art and science activities, interactive playscapes, workshops and special events for children aged 0–14 years. You’ll work in spaces like Kids on Deck and Mini Mariners, helping families explore and connect through fun, educational experiences.

Learning Engagement Officer - $40.29ph + super
Inspire the next generation through engaging educational programs. You’ll deliver student workshops, lead tours of the Museum’s vessels and exhibitions, and support outreach and special events. This role is perfect for those with a passion for teaching and storytelling, and a love for maritime history and ocean science.

Front of House Engagement Office r - $33.38ph + super
Be the welcoming face of the Museum! This role focuses on creating a warm, inclusive visitor experience from the moment guests arrive. You’ll provide personalised recommendations, manage ticketing and support public programs and deliver tours. Strong communication and emotional intelligence are key.

What are we looking for?
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences including children, families, and school groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging educational and public programs in a museum or cultural setting.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across different roles and environments including front-of-house, learning, and family programs.
  • Initiative and problem-solving skills to respond to visitor needs and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to high standards of customer service and adherence to the APS Code of Conduct and Museum values.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and contribute to a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Desirable
  • Tertiary qualifications in teaching or currently undertaking studies in education, or equivalent professional experience. (Only for Learning Engagement Officer role)
  • Demonstrated experience working with children and families or studies in Early childhood/Primary education. (Only for Family programs role)
  • Ability to speak additional languages
  • First Aid certificate
