About the Role
As part of the Strategic Planning & Urban Design unit, you will deliver concept and detailed design solutions across a diverse range of public realm, upgrade and renewal projects, with a strong focus on activity centres and streetscape improvements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialist design advice to Capital Works and Strategic Property & Projects teams
  • Ensuring infrastructure design and reinstatement works meet Council standards and achieve high-quality outcomes
  • Supporting place activation initiatives such as parklets, pop-ups and public art
  • Contributing to the ongoing review of the Banyule Public Realm Design Guide
  • Providing technical urban design advice and referral responses across the organisation

About You
You will bring strong technical capability, sound professional judgement and a collaborative approach to delivering integrated place-based outcomes.

To be successful, you will demonstrate:
  • A degree or diploma in Urban Design, Landscape Architecture or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience delivering concept and detailed design plans for streetscape and public realm projects
  • Experience working on complex urban design projects, ideally within local government
  • Strong project and consultant management capability
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, codes and best practice urban and civil design principles
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and respond flexibly to changing work programs
Technical proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InDesign and related design software is essential.
