Contract:
6-month initial contract with strong intention to convert to permanent
About the Role
We’re seeking a hands-on Subcontracts Specialist to join a dynamic team in Brisbane's northside. This is an opportunity for someone who thrives on variety and is looking for a role that offers exposure to directs and Defence contracting.
You’ll manage end-to-end subcontract administration, ensuring compliance with ITAR controls and Defence requirements, while supporting supplier performance and operational needs. The role is tactical and detail-oriented – not about processing thousands of lines, but about making sure suppliers deliver and contracts are watertight.
Senior-level candidates are also encouraged to apply, especially if you can mentor and coach team members and bring strategic insight alongside operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply established subcontracting practices, techniques, standards, and principles to manage subcontracts for assigned projects
- Execute end-to-end subcontract administration, including pre- and post-award activities
- Support negotiation and supplier engagement under general direction
- Provide contractual guidance to project teams and participate in determining assignment objectives
- Escalate higher-risk or novel issues to senior staff for resolution
- Monitor subcontractor performance and initiate remedies in line with policy
What We’re Looking For
- Strong commercial understanding and ability to read and interpret contracts
- Practical experience in subcontract administration (Defence experience highly regarded)
- Resilient, proactive, and driven – someone who thrives in a reactive role
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work independently and manage complexity
- Senior candidates: mentoring and capability-building experience
Why Join?
- Opportunity to convert to permanent and grow with the business
- Exposure to Defence and direct procurement
- Flexible work arrangements after onboarding
- Supportive team culture in a dog-friendly office
