This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of Queensland’s State Boat Harbours portfolio, ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable access for recreational and commercial vessels. You’ll be part of a collaborative team delivering high-impact planning initiatives that support tourism, industry, and community outcomes.

What You’ll Be Doing
In this dynamic and non-engineering role, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading the State Boat Harbour Master Planning Program (SBHMPP), including project planning, governance, and delivery of individual harbour master plans.
  • Engaging and managing specialist consultants to deliver planning studies and investigations.
  • Coordinating stakeholder engagement across government agencies, local councils, and industry bodies.
  • Supporting procurement processes, including tender documentation and evaluation.
  • Overseeing contract administration, progress claims, variations, and contractor performance.
  • Monitoring financial performance, maintaining accurate forecasts and milestone reporting.
  • Managing project schedules and risk registers, proactively addressing emerging issues.
  • Preparing reports and advice to inform government decision-making.
  • Ensuring compliance with departmental policies, safety standards, and sustainability objectives.

About You
You’re a proactive project leader who thrives in complex, multi-stakeholder environments and brings a flexible, solutions-driven mindset. You’re passionate about strategic planning and delivering projects that create long-term value. You’ll bring:
  • Experience in strategic planning projects, ideally with qualifications in town planning, transport planning, or related fields.
  • Strong background in project management within government or infrastructure contexts.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and contractor management skills.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication, with the ability to simplify complex ideas.
  • Understanding of relevant legislative, policy, and planning frameworks.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, with occasional intrastate travel.
  • Familiarity with project systems such as 3PCM, SAP, or MS Project (advantageous).

Why Apply?
  • Immediate start through to 29 May 2026, with potential extensions up to 24 months.
  • Play a pivotal role in shaping Queensland’s maritime infrastructure strategy.
  • Work within a high-performing team at Maritime Safety Queensland, with travel across the state.
  • Competitive daily rate and flexible work arrangements within TMR business hours.
