Solution Architect - Data

We’re seeking a senior architecture professional to lead detailed solution design for a major enterprise data program currently transitioning from Foundation Solution Architecture (FSA) into full Detailed Design. You'll be joining our client AGL on a six month contract role, in Melbourne CBD working in a hybrid environment.

This role requires someone who is hands‑on, technically credible, and experienced in navigating complex stakeholder environments with multiple vendors, engineering teams, and senior business leaders.

About the Role
As the Solution Architect, you will be responsible for shaping and delivering scalable Data & AI solutions across a large enterprise environment. You’ll champion a Data as a Product mindset and ensure modern, high‑performing architectural outcomes aligned to strategic objectives. You’ll play a pivotal role in designing data & AI capabilities across cloud platforms, enterprise data systems, emerging AI technologies, and model development pipelines. This is a technical leadership role with strong influence across engineering, business teams, and governance forums.

What You’ll Be Doing

Architecture & Design

• Develop detailed Data & AI solution designs, including network, security, metadata standards, and architectural documentation.
• Create data models, define relationships, and establish documentation such as data dictionaries and governance standards.
• Design scalable, high‑performance data architectures suitable for modern AI and GenAI workloads.
• Build reusable patterns and reference architectures across enterprise domains.

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

• Work closely with business units, RTs, engineering teams, and multiple vendors to align solutions with strategic requirements.
• Present complex concepts in clear, business‑friendly language to senior stakeholders.
• Manage challenging stakeholders and drive alignment in ambiguous or high‑pressure environments.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and oversight across delivery teams.

Innovation & Emerging Tech

• Maintain deep expertise in AI/ML technologies and identify opportunities for their adoption.
• Explore and evaluate new technologies, including Open & Gen AI, LLMs (GPT‑5, Gemini, Claude), and advanced analytics capabilities.
• Lead Proof‑of‑Concept initiatives to validate solution strategies.

Governance, Security & Compliance

• Apply industry regulations and standards including CDR, SOCI, Privacy, NIST/AESCSF, ISO 27001.
• Ensure all data solutions meet privacy, security, and compliance requirements.
• Support project planning and architectural governance across solution stages.

What You’ll Bring

• Proven experience in Data & AI architecture and enterprise solution design.
• Hands‑on experience designing solutions using Databricks (not just leading teams).
• Proven expertise in Microsoft Fabric, cloud data platforms, big data, and advanced analytics.
• Strong skills in data modelling, data integration, and data warehousing.
• Practical experience with AI/ML model design, data preparation, training, tuning, and architecture definition.
• Knowledge of data mesh, microservices, event‑driven architectures, and Medallion architecture.
• Experience with technologies such as Apache Spark, NLP, Agentic AI, Computer Vision, AutoML, and Edge AI.
• High-level communication capability and a proven ability to work with difficult stakeholders in complex environments.
