Agency Overview
 
The agency is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Communications Support Officer to join their team. This pivotal role involves providing essential communication support across various projects, ensuring messages are clear, consistent, and aligned with organizational objectives. Position Overview:

The Senior Communications Support Officer will assist in developing, editing, and disseminating a wide range of communication materials, including reports, presentations, newsletters, and briefing documents. You will support communication campaigns, monitor their effectiveness, and provide administrative support to ensure seamless communication operations within the agency
 
 
Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Execute the UNSC Campaign Communications Strategy through content creation, stakeholder engagement, and message delivery.
  • Draft and edit communications products including talking points, media releases, social media content, speeches, and campaign collateral.
  • Lead design and production of branded materials including digital assets, print products, and merchandise.
  • Support coordination of campaign events and launches, including logistics, branding, design, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Manage campaign merchandise, including sourcing, design, distribution, inventory tracking, and supplier coordination.
  • Undertake procurement and contract management activities for merchandise and design services, in line with DFAT policies and Commonwealth Procurement Rules.
  • Liaise with Posts and Canberra-based divisions to coordinate messaging and approvals.
  • Monitor campaign communications performance and contribute to reporting and evaluation.
  • Provide advice on strategic messaging, branding, and communications risks.
  • Contribute to internal communications and team planning
 
 
 
About You
 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in drafting for institutional communications channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under limited direction.
  • Experience in strategic communications, public diplomacy, or media engagement.
  • Proven graphic design skills, including proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Experience in event coordination and branded merchandise production.
  • Familiarity with procurement processes and contract management in a government context.
  • Understanding of multilateral issues and Australia’s foreign policy priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders.
  • Experience with digital communications and social media platforms is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, to support development of strategic messages for communications products like social media.
