We are currently recruiting for a  Senior Strategic Planner  to join our client, A NSW Government agency based in Parramatta. This is an initial contract until 30/06/2026 with a pay rate of $75.54 - $83.24ph + super for 40 hours per week. WFH is available for 50% of the time with Tuesday and Thursday’s in the Parramatta Office.
 
About the Role

Reporting to a Team Leader and working within a team of planners, you will provide expert planning advice and contribute to strategic planning initiatives, rezoning, and precinct planning. The role involves occasional travel (approximately quarterly) and offers a dynamic environment focused on residential development.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide accurate and timely technical planning advice to stakeholders, providers, contractors, and consultants.
  • Conduct planning and study reviews, assess third-party submissions, and manage external consultants and contractors.
  • Document planning and legislative issues, project status, and perform risk management analyses.
  • Advise on planning risks, environmental impacts, and compliance to ensure alignment with objectives.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships to support project delivery in line with government planning policies.
  • Contribute to precinct planning by integrating land use, transport, and infrastructure strategies.
  • Use GIS for spatial planning, site analysis, and data interpretation.
  • Prepare and assess planning proposals in accordance with strategic frameworks and legislative requirements.
Key Requirements
  • 5–10 years’ experience in strategic planning, ideally in residential development.
  • Experience in precinct planning, rezoning, and planning proposals (local council or consultancy background preferred).
  • GIS experience is highly desirable.
  • Background in architecture or urban design would be advantageous.
  • Assessment experience is beneficial.
  • Ability to start ASAP preferred, but 4-week notice periods will be considered.
