Senior Statutory Planner
Location: Altona area
Rate:$54 per hour + super
Contract: Short-term contract until April 2026
Hours: Full-time (casual contract)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Statutory Planner to join a local council planning team on a short-term contract. This role will assess and manage a range of statutory planning matters, including complex and major development applications, while delivering high-quality outcomes for the community.

About the Role Working closely with the Coordinator Town Planning and Manager Planning, Building and Health Services, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing statutory planning permit applications, including complex and major developments
  • Providing clear, professional advice to councillors, applicants, developers, and the community
  • Preparing reports, recommendations, and planning advice in line with Council and State policy
  • Undertaking pre-application meetings and facilitating mediation where required
  • Representing Council at VCAT and preparing submissions
  • Contributing to statutory policy development and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting planning committees and briefing elected members as required
About You You will bring:
  • A tertiary qualification in Town Planning
  • Demonstrated experience in statutory planning within Victoria
  • Strong knowledge of the Planning and Environment Act, Planning Schemes, and VCAT processes
  • Excellent written, verbal, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment
  • A current Victorian Driver Licence
