Join one of our clients who are a major government‑aligned infrastructure organisation as they continue to elevate contractor safety performance across a complex civil delivery portfolio. We are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Advisor to support safety governance, assurance and improvement activities across large‑scale infrastructure projects.
Working within a specialist safety function, you will play a pivotal role in supporting contractor compliance, analysing safety performance data, and contributing to the ongoing uplift of safety systems, processes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support internal contractor safety compliance programs, including reviewing safety plans, procedures, risk assessments and hazard identification, and developing recommendations for improvement.
- Investigate and analyse contractor incidents, identifying improvement opportunities and contributing to the enhancement of the safety management system.
- Prepare detailed reports and briefing materials on contractor safety performance and emerging trends.
- Contribute to the development, review and continuous improvement of contractor safety assurance content, including standards, procedures, guidance materials, tools and reporting frameworks.
- Analyse WHS performance data to identify trends and support effective communication of performance to stakeholders.
- Engage with project teams and contractors to support safe delivery outcomes and the consistent application of assurance practices.
About You
- Strong experience in safety advisory, HSEQ or contractor safety roles within civil construction, infrastructure or a similar high‑risk industry.
- Demonstrated capability in incident investigation and analysis.
- Ability to interpret and apply WHS legislation, governance frameworks and client‑side safety requirements.
- Skilled in reviewing contractor documentation, undertaking surveillance activities and monitoring performance during project delivery.
- Excellent communication, relationship‑building and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly.
- Strong problem‑solving capability, with the ability to evaluate risks, assess options and influence safe delivery outcomes.
- High attention to detail, strong organisation, and proven ability to manage competing priorities.
Mandatory:
- Current Queensland “C” Class driver’s licence (site travel required).
Desirable:
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety or a related discipline.
Why Apply?
- Opportunity to shape and influence contractor safety outcomes across major infrastructure projects.
- Work within a collaborative safety unit committed to continuous improvement.
- Stable 2‑year engagement with strong client support and ongoing project pipeline.
- Brisbane‑based role with opportunities to visit operational project sites.
If you are an experienced safety professional with a passion for contractor assurance and improving industry safety outcomes, upload a cover letter (detailing suitable experience and attributes that meet the responsibilities and requirements of this role) and a resume (maximum 5 pages) through the Apply button to be considered.
