We are currently recruiting on behalf of a Victorian council for an experienced Senior Project Manager to support the delivery of building, civil, and open space capital works projects.

The role is responsible for managing projects from planning and design through to construction, commissioning, and handover, ensuring alignment with council policies, standards, timelines, and budgets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver capital works projects ranging from minor upgrades to major refurbishments and new facility builds.
  • Prepare project briefs, concept plans, detailed designs, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Manage tendering and procurement processes in accordance with council policy.
  • Oversee contract administration, performance, variations, and reporting.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with safety requirements and technical standards.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and provide regular budget, risk, and progress reporting.
  • Coordinate and engage consultants, architects, engineers, quantity surveyors and other external providers.
  • Identify and support continuous improvement within project management processes.
  • Assist in planning and developing future capital works initiatives.

Skills & Experience
  • Degree in engineering, architecture, building, project management, or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience delivering building, civil, or open space capital works projects.
  • Strong understanding of procurement, tendering, and contract management.
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, codes, and local government processes.
  • Well‑developed communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet required timeframes.
  • Experience supervising contractors and technical consultants.
  • Current Victorian driver’s licence.
