Senior Project Accountant – Defence Industry

The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented Senior Project Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for project accounting, cost control, and financial reporting to support projects across our portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with and provide high-level support to Project Finance and central finance teams.

  • Generate standard and custom financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Prepare annual Estimates at Completion (EAC).

  • Assist with annual and ad-hoc external audits as required.

  • Complete month-end processes, including journal entries, revenue recognition, reconciliations, and reporting.

  • Advise management on financial performance forecasts based on business insights.

  • Conduct variance analysis and explain operational and financial performance to stakeholders.

  • Analyze, interpret, prepare, and reconcile financial data.

  • Oversee and process monthly customer invoicing.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to improvement initiatives.

  • Provide training and mentorship to other team members.
  • Fin system, TM1, Oracle experience preferred
Experience & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge in some or all of the following areas:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or Commerce (or equivalent work experience)

  • Relevant experience in project accounting, management accounting, or cost control

  • Intermediate Excel skills

  • Ability to adapt to different situations, proactively manage priorities, and meet deadlines independently

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment

  • Australian citizenship is required
