About the Client:
Government agency tasked with making life easier, accessible, and equitable for thousands of individuals and families across Australia. Our client is currently seeking a Senior Policy Officer to join their busy team for a casual 12 months temporary assignment with the potential for extension.
About the Role:
As a Senior Policy Officer, you will contribute to the development and implementation of strategic policy initiatives that support the agency’s objectives. The role involves conducting research and analysis, preparing policy advice and briefings, and engaging with stakeholders. In addition, your key duties are as follows:
- Contribute to the development of strategic policy advice aligned with government and agency priorities.
- Prepare high-quality policy documents, including ministerial briefs, submissions, and correspondence.
- Support the agency’s engagement with ministers, ministerial offices, and parliamentary processes.
- Conduct research and analysis to support evidence-based policy development.
- Assist in managing policy projects, including planning, coordination, and reporting.
- Monitor policy trends, risks, and opportunities relevant to the agency’s work.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
About You:
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Strong understanding of public policy development and Australian Government processes, ideally in a First Nations context
- Experience preparing ministerial and executive briefings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently or in a team.

- Casual temporary assignment until end of December 2026 with the potential to extend
- Full-time hours, Monday to Friday
- $60.26 per hour + super
