Senior Mine Geologist (FIFO 8:6 | Open Pit Mining)

Permanent Position:  $163680 + 12% Super + 10% Site allowance
Location: FIFO from Perth
Roster: FIFO 8:6 (Fly-out Monday)
Shifts: 12-hour days
Reports to: Geology Superintendent
Employment Type: Permanent / Contract (as applicable)

Spearhead your career. Step into a senior mine geology role at one of Australia’s most geologically complex open pit gold mining operations.

Lead daily pit activities, supervise a skilled geology team, and drive best practice in grade control, mapping, modelling, and reconciliation. Acting as 2IC to the Geology Superintendent, you’ll play a key role in technical leadership and strategic decision-making on site.

This is a key leadership opportunity in a technically rich mining geology environment, ideal for experienced geologists ready to take the next step.

Key Responsibilities  

  • Supervise and mentor a team of 3 Geologists and 6 Pit Technicians
  • Oversee daily geological pit activities, sampling, mapping, drilling and QA/QC tasks
  • Ensure safe work practices and compliance with site safety standards
  • Execute and manage grade control programs including sampling, modelling, and daily ore/waste delineation
  • Deliver accurate and timely geological interpretations and models using Vulcan and Leapfrog
  • Contribute to block modelling and provide inputs to mine planning and scheduling teams
  • Monitor and report on ore reconciliation, dilution, and recovery metrics
  Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology or Earth Sciences (minimum requirement)
Experience
  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience in mine geology and open pit mining geology, ideally in gold operations
  • Strong background in grade control, block modelling, and resource reconciliation
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience is essential
Software Proficiency
  • Vulcan (preferred)
  • Leapfrog (preferred)
  • OrePro
  • acQuire (data management)
  • Competence with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word for reporting and data analysis
Other Requirements
  • Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills
  • Proven commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Right to work in Australia
