Client: Energy Resources Australia (ERA)
Location: BIBO from Darwin
Roster: 9-day fortnight
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Duration: Anticipated 5 + years

Looking for your next step and the chance to make a real impact? This role gives you the opportunity to play a key technical leadership role in improving the reliability and integrity of critical fixed plant assets that support the safe and cost-effective rehabilitation of the Ranger mine.

As the Senior Integrity Engineer, you will be responsible for managing asset condition, inspection outcomes and integrity risks across our fixed plant assets. Your focus will be on understanding how assets are degrading, identifying emerging risks and making practical, risk-based recommendations to maintain plant integrity and safe operation.

You will work closely with operations, maintenance, projects and external inspection providers to review inspection data, assess plant condition and develop repair, remediation and mitigation strategies. This includes providing integrity and inspection input into shutdown and major outage scopes, completing fitness for service and remaining life assessments and supporting decisions around repair, replacement and life extension of plant.

While this is not a people management role, you will be a visible technical authority on site. You will support teams with sound engineering judgement, challenge decisions where integrity risk is not well understood and help embed strong asset integrity and risk aware practices across the operation. Your work will directly support safe operations, regulatory compliance and reliable delivery through the life of the rehabilitation program.

Reporting to the Superintendent, Planning and Sustaining Capital, you will:

  • Driving continuous improvement by identifying and delivering practical reliability and asset integrity improvements
  • Reviewing and analysing inspection reports to ensure issues are clearly understood, prioritised and addressed
  • Developing and implementing fixed plant maintenance strategies to maintain asset integrity and long‑term performance
  • Providing engineering advice on repair, remediation and mitigation options for damaged or degraded plant
  • Supporting shutdowns and major outages by providing engineering and inspection input into scope development and planning
  • Completing corrosion rate assessments, fitness‑for‑service evaluations and remaining life estimates to support risk‑based decisions
  • Leading and contributing to Root Cause Analysis investigations into plant and equipment issues, with a focus on sustainable, long‑term fixes
  • Lifting fixed plant performance through strong technical leadership and sound engineering judgement
  • Contributing to capital and operational planning, including condition assessments, budget development and project scoping
  • Promoting a strong, risk‑aware culture that supports safe and reliable operations
  • Building effective working relationships with site teams, contractors and external service providers
  • Demonstrating a genuine commitment to safety through visible field leadership and supporting colleagues on site
About you
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, materials, corrosion or a related engineering discipline, accredited by Engineers Australia or assessed as meeting the requirements of a successful Engineers Australia migration skills assessment.
  • Proven industry experience working with heavy industrial equipment such as tanks, pressure vessels, boilers & piping
  • Experience in NDT selection & inspections
  • Experience managing risk based assessment processes
  • Experience engaging with engineering service providers for independent engineering assessments.
  • A demonstrated understanding of asset management, strategy development, maintenance execution, maintenance planning & reliability, or production processes
  • Sound knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements in an industrial setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships across the business.
  • Competence with maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP or similar CMMS) and operational reporting tools.
Client
Energy Resources of Australia Ltd (ERA) operated the Ranger Uranium Mine near the town of Jabiru in the Northern Territory, Australia, previously mining and producing uranium oxide. In January 2021, ERA ceased all mining and processing activities at Ranger after 40 years of operation with the focus now shifting to rehabilitation.

The Ranger Rehabilitation Project is committed to the rehabilitation of the Ranger Project Area to a standard that will establish an environment similar to the adjacent Kakadu National Park. In 2024, ERA entered into a Management Services Agreement (MSA) with Rio Tinto to manage the Ranger Rehabilitation Project, which will build on ERA’s existing rehabilitation work with Rio Tinto’s technical expertise in designing, scoping and executing closure projects. We remain committed to working with all key stakeholders, including the Mirarr People to complete this important rehabilitation work.

At Chandler Macleod, we are committed to fostering a diverse workforce where everyone is welcome. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, women, neurodiverse, people living with a disability and the LGBTIQA+ community.
