We are currently seeking  an experienced Senior   Environmental Advisor  for a 4-month temporary role to support the delivery of the Port’s Strategic Plan and Environmental Strategy. Reporting to the Manager Environment, this role will partner across all divisions of and engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including customers, contractors, tenants, government agencies, community groups and Traditional Owners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with government environmental policy, legislation and guidelines.
  • Manage and deliver environmental projects and initiatives, including scoping, scheduling and budgeting.
  • Lead inspections, investigations, audits and reporting under relevant environmental legislation, licences and approvals.
  • Collate, analyse and manage environmental data to support decision making and reporting.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training and inductions for employees, contractors, tenants, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain the Ports’ Environmental Management System to ISO 14001 Standard.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Management or Engineering.
  • 5+ years’ experience in environmental management, ideally within heavy industry or port environments.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, policies and practices.
  • Hands-on experience developing and implementing environmental practices in dust, water and waste management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, including working effectively with regulators.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present reports, policies and plans at an executive level.
