Opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer looking to make a real impact on regional road infrastructure and support major road projects in the Gold Coast region.

Contract Position Details:

Title: Senior Civil Engineer (PO4)
Location: Nerang (Gold Coast)
Team: Delivery, Preconstruction Business Unit
Duration: 12th Jan 2026 – 11th Jan 2027 (Potential extension)
Hourly Rate: $76.49 – $82.40 + Superannuation

Role Overview:

As part of the Delivery team within the Pre-construction Business Unit, you will be instrumental in planning and delivering infrastructure projects that enhance regional road networks. This highly technical role involves leading multidisciplinary teams through project development, managing tender and contract processes, and ensuring compliance with departmental standards. You will work closely with stakeholders, contractors, and design consultants to deliver projects on time, within scope, and aligned with safety and quality standards. The successful candidate will bring robust engineering expertise and proven experience in project management, contract administration, and technical problem-solving within the transportation sector.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management & Delivery: Lead end-to-end management of multiple pre-construction and construction projects, including scope definition, schedule development, and resource coordination.
  • Design Oversight & Technical Advice: Review and approve design documentation, ensuring alignment with standards, budget, and project specifications. Provide expert advice on material selection, drainage, earthworks, geometric design, and traffic management.
  • Contract Administration: Prepare, evaluate, and award tenders, administrate contracts, and manage variations and claims to ensure contractual compliance and value for money.
  • Stakeholder & Contractor Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact between internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders; communicate project expectations and progress effectively.
  • Quality & Safety Compliance: Oversee site and design inspections, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and departmental policies.
  • Technical Support & Supervision: Provide technical guidance to project teams, including junior engineers and technical officers, fostering a high-performing team environment.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare progress reports, technical assessments, and project documentation in line with internal requirements.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Identify project risks early, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve technical or contractual issues proactively.


Mandatory Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Washington Accord accredited) or equivalent, assessed by Engineers Australia
  • Registration as a RPEQ engineer
  • Current Class C driver’s license and White Card (Construction Industry Induction)
  • Proven experience in project management, contract administration, and technical design review of transportation infrastructure projects
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of AU road standards, policies, and procedures
