Are you an experienced Rates, Property or Local Government administration professional? We are seeking two Rates Officers
to support a backlog of work created by recent organisational changes. These roles offer an excellent opportunity to step into a busy, collaborative team within a respected council environment.
About the Role
Working as part of the Property & Rates team, you will be responsible for accurate and timely processing of property-related updates, customer enquiries and administrative tasks. Key duties include:
Key Responsibilities
- Process change of ownership, change of address and other property notices within Council’s database.
- Maintain the Name and Address Register and support upkeep of the Rates, Valuation & Property database.
- Provide customer service via phone, email and in-person regarding property and rates enquiries.
- Prepare correspondence and generate accurate written responses.
- Process pension rebate applications, refunds and financial journal adjustments.
- Update property and valuation records with all relevant information.
- Prepare Land Information Certificates, building/planning permit updates, subdivisions, consolidations and create new property records.
- Support ratepayers registering for electronic and self-service platforms.
- Deliver general administrative and clerical support to the team.
You will bring:
- Experience working with property, rates or valuation databases(local government experience highly regarded).
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work confidently both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Problem‑solving skills and the ability to follow established guidelines and procedures.
- A current driver’s licence.
