About the Role
Are you a detail-oriented professional with experience in local government rates and revenue? Our client is looking for a motivated Rates and Revenue Officer to join their dynamic Rates Team. In this role, you'll be responsible for delivering accurate and efficient administrative services, ensuring compliance with Council procedures, and providing high-quality support to both internal and external stakeholders.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a customer-focused service by processing rates functions accurately and on time
  • Maintain and update Council’s rates and revenue system including:
    • Change of address requests
    • Notices of sale/transfer
    • Section 603 certificates
    • Journals, refunds, postponed rates
  • Verify and process pensioner rebates
  • Apply adjustments to Domestic and Commercial Waste charges
  • Reconcile electronic funds transfer (EFT) rate payments
  • Process lot aggregations and rate category/exemption changes
  • Assist with debt recovery for outstanding Rates and Charges
  • Maintain registers and procedure manuals
  • Respond to general enquiries (phone and written)
  • Support internal clients with rates-related advice
  • Contribute to team goals, objectives and continuous improvement initiatives
 
What You’ll Bring
  • Certificate qualification in a business-related field or bookkeeping
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a local government rates and revenue environment
  • Strong knowledge of local government rates and revenue practices
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • High attention to detail, numeracy, and analytical ability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams
