$56.43 PER HOUR PLUS 13% SUPER.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-focused Purchasing Officer to support procurement operations within a fast-paced and collaborative environment based in Melbourne CBD. This is an excellent contract opportunity for a procurement professional looking to contribute to strategic sourcing initiatives while maintaining strong supplier partnerships.

Offering a flexible hybrid working arrangement and competitive hourly rate, this role will see you play a key part in ensuring purchasing processes run efficiently and effectively.

About the Role As a Purchasing Officer, you will support end-to-end purchasing activities, maintain vendor records, and ensure procurement processes align with organisational policies and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Raise and manage purchase orders in line with procurement procedures
  • Maintain and update vendor master records within SAP
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
  • Support sourcing activities and procurement reporting
  • Monitor supply timelines and manage urgent supply issues
  • Ensure procurement activities meet compliance and policy standards
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to support purchasing requirements
About You
  • Demonstrated experience in procurement or purchasing roles
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and policies
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proficiency using SAP or similar ERP systems
  • Strong reporting and data management capability
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Exposure to supply chain or logistics operations
  • Experience supporting natural disaster or emergency supply responses
  • Knowledge of Australian procurement regulations and compliance frameworks
  • Previous experience working within government or large corporate environments
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Supply Chain, or related discipline (desirable)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in procurement or purchasing
  • Availability to commence ASAP 
  • Flexible start time between 7:00am – 9:00am
  • Ability to work 7.5 hour days, with hybrid flexibility available after onboarding
  • Willingness to liaise with suppliers to resolve urgent supply matters
