We are seeking a motivated and detail-focused Purchasing Officer
to support procurement operations within a fast-paced and collaborative environment based in Melbourne CBD. This is an excellent contract opportunity for a procurement professional looking to contribute to strategic sourcing initiatives while maintaining strong supplier partnerships.

About the Role
As a Purchasing Officer, you will support end-to-end purchasing activities, maintain vendor records, and ensure procurement processes align with organisational policies and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise and manage purchase orders in line with procurement procedures
- Maintain and update vendor master records within SAP
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Support sourcing activities and procurement reporting
- Monitor supply timelines and manage urgent supply issues
- Ensure procurement activities meet compliance and policy standards
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to support purchasing requirements
- Demonstrated experience in procurement or purchasing roles
- Strong understanding of procurement processes and policies
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proficiency using SAP or similar ERP systems
- Strong reporting and data management capability
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Exposure to supply chain or logistics operations
- Experience supporting natural disaster or emergency supply responses
- Knowledge of Australian procurement regulations and compliance frameworks
- Previous experience working within government or large corporate environments
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Supply Chain, or related discipline (desirable)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in procurement or purchasing
- Availability to commence ASAP
- Flexible start time between 7:00am – 9:00am
- Ability to work 7.5 hour days, with hybrid flexibility available after onboarding
- Willingness to liaise with suppliers to resolve urgent supply matters
