Whether you're looking for a sea change, a new adventure, or simply a chance to make a meaningful impact, this is your opportunity to join a team of dedicated professionals in the beautiful Coffs Harbour region. With stunning beaches, lush hinterland, and a welcoming community, the Mid North Coast of NSW offers an enviable lifestyle alongside a rewarding career.
About the Company
Abcare operates within a therapeutic framework aimed at improving the lives and outcomes of Aboriginal people through evidence-based, trauma-informed practices tailored to individuals. We focus on strength-based approaches, creating safe environments to support change and growth towards independence and sustainable success.
About the Role
As a Psychologist (open to Provisional and Registered), you will play a vital role in supporting the needs of children and young people under the care of Abcare. You’ll provide assessment and therapeutic support within an evidence-based, culturally sensitive framework as well as:
- Conducting clinical work promptly, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assessing the social, emotional, intellectual, cultural, health, and educational needs of children and young people.
- Developing therapeutic, culturally responsive, and strengths-based support plans.
- Providing individual therapy in areas such as trauma, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and capacity building.
- Working closely with staff, carers, and volunteers to build a supportive therapeutic environment.
- Staying across sector initiatives and trauma-informed practices, and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
- Participating in professional development, regular supervision, and peer case discussions.
- Preparing reports and maintaining accurate data and statistics.
To thrive in this role, you will bring a passion for making a difference in the lives of children and young people. You will have:
- Current registration or provisional registration with the Australian Psychological Board.
- Experience in psychological assessments and evidence-based interventions, ideally in a child/youth mental health setting.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, cultural competency, and strength-based approaches.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to professional development and ethical practice.
- A current NSW Working with Children Check clearance, National Criminal History Check, and COVID-19 vaccination.
By joining Abcare, you’ll be part of a dynamic and welcoming organisation that places community at the heart of everything we do:
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Opportunities for professional growth and ongoing development.
- A supportive, culturally aware, and collaborative workplace.
- Relocation assistance
- The chance to live and work in the stunning Coffs Harbour region – enjoy surf, sand, and a relaxed coastal lifestyle.
If you’re ready to combine a fulfilling career with a sea change to the Mid North Coast, we’d love to hear from you. Please submit your resume/CV and a cover letter outlining your suitability.
