Our client is seeking an experienced Project Officer - Roads
to join their Civil Projects team for a temporary full-time assignment through to September 2026. This role has become available due to a period of extended leave and is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced civil projects professional to step into a position with real impact. As a Project Officer, you will support the continued delivery of construction and maintenance activities across the State, Regional and Local road network. You’ll work closely with internal teams, external asset owners and contractors, helping to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with best-practice standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Capital Works construction and maintenance activities across the local road network.
- Coordinate and support the delivery of contracts and civil construction programs.
- Ensure all works align with quality assurance requirements, industry specifications, and best practice.
- Manage project costs, budgets and resources effectively.
- Oversee risk management activities in line with organisational frameworks.
- Monitor and manage stockpiles in accordance with environmental management systems.
- Provide leadership to staff, contractors, and service providers.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Support community engagement and resolve service-related enquiries.
- Undertake after-hours, weekend or night work if required.
- Experience managing civil contractors in road and drainage construction and maintenance.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans, engineering reports and technical specifications.
- Tertiary qualifications in project management, construction management, civil construction, or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Competent budget management, procurement and cost control capabilities.
- Strong time management, data collection and record‑keeping skills.
- Understanding of environmental and safety management systems.
- WorkCover General Construction Induction (White Card) or willingness to obtain.
- Current Class C Driver Licence.
