Are you an estimating professional with a passion for resource projects? Our client is seeking a talented Project Estimator to join their Technical Services Studies Team on a 12-month contract. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to influence project feasibility from initial concept through detailed cost analysis, working alongside top engineers, planners, and subject matter experts in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Located at their headquarters on St Georges Terrace, you'll be instrumental in shaping sustainable, innovative projects that drive the company's growth and future success.

About the role

• Developing precise cost estimates for study phases including scoping, prefeasibility, and feasibility for mines and infrastructure projects.
• Applying comparative first-principles estimating methods to ensure accurate, realistic, and benchmarked figures.
• Acting as a key liaison with SMEs, synthesizing insights from engineering, operations, and supply chain to enhance estimates.
• Preparing professional documentation such as Basis of Estimate (BOE), estimate frameworks, Work Breakdown Structures, and commodity code definitions.
• Assisting in setting up and refining the estimation software database (“Winest”) for improved efficiency and accuracy.
• Reviewing tenders and proposals with a focus on risk, accuracy, and completeness to support project decision-making.
• Maintaining a library of project costs to foster continuous improvement and cost control excellence.

What We Need From You:  

• A degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience in cost estimating.
• 2- 5 years’ experience in resource sector cost estimation with a mining operator.
• Proven expertise in 1st principle estimating, with the ability to collaborate effectively with SMEs.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills capable of translating complex estimates into clear insights.
• Proficiency in Excel and MS Office Suite; experience with Winest is highly regarded but not essential.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-moving environment as a reliable team player.
