Project Engineer – Structural / NPI (Facilities & Labs) 📍 Perth Based | 5:2 Roster

12-Month Rolling Contract

$100 – $110 per hour
Tier 1 Mining Company | Ad-hoc Site Travel Required

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer with a strong structural and design background to support major Facilities & Laboratory (NPI) projects for a Tier 1 mining organisation. This is a hands-on, multidisciplinary role working across civil, mechanical, and electrical scopes, supporting projects from design through execution and commissioning.
This role is Perth-based on a 5:2 roster, with ad-hoc site travel as required. Flexibility to support project demands is essential.

About the Role Reporting into the Project Engineering function, you will provide end-to-end project engineering support across the full project lifecycle, ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality engineering outcomes. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external Engineering Service Providers (ESPs) to deliver fit-for-purpose designs and successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide full lifecycle project engineering support from concept, design, execution, commissioning, and close-out
  • Develop design criteria, technical documentation, and detailed engineering scopes of work
  • Coordinate and review multidisciplinary designs across structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines
  • Lead and participate in design reviews, drawing approvals, and technical queries resolution
  • Conduct technical and commercial evaluations of engineering deliverables and proposals
  • Manage Engineering Service Providers (ESPs), ensuring performance, compliance, and quality outcomes
  • Ensure Safety-in-Design principles and compliance with company and regulatory standards
  • Support construction, execution, commissioning, QA, FAT/SAT, and handover activities
  • Drive value engineering initiatives to optimise cost, constructability, and project outcomes
  • Collaborate closely with Project Services, Operations, Maintenance, and Procurement teams

About You
  • Engineering Degree(Structural preferred; Civil or Mechanical also considered)
  • 10+ years’ experience as a Project Engineer within mining, NPI, facilities, or major infrastructure projects
  • Strong design engineering background with exposure to construction and execution phases
  • Proven experience working across multidisciplinary engineering scopes
  • Solid understanding of project management principles, scheduling, cost control, and risk management
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to coordinate multiple interfaces
  • High commitment to safety, quality, and engineering standards
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel to site on an ad-hoc basis
